Pebble is still at it - look at their recent letter
This month, the CEO of Northern Dynasty Minerals, Ron Thiessen, wrote a letter to shareholders. (available to read in full HERE)
“In 2025, we have a renewed sense of optimism about … the Pebble Project in particular. ... I remain enthusiastic moving this project forwards.”
It is not surprising the CEO would want to persuade shareholders that the Pebble project is in good standing. This is false: its permit was denied by the last Trump Administration, Northern Dynasty still has no financial partners, and the 404(c) protections remain in place.
However, the letter is a reminder that the threat of Pebble very much persists, despite our progress. We need to stay vigilant and ready to take action.
In the letter, Thiessen cites a number of events at the federal and state level, including the passing of the Critical Minerals Consistency Act in the House, their various lawsuits, support from Governor Dunleavy, and more.
UTBB will be tracking all Pebble-related activities at the state and federal levels, including looking for opportunities to increase protections for our region.
We will let you know if and when your support is needed, please stay tuned!
As always, quyana/chin'an for your attention and dedication to standing together to protect our ways of life.
